I am following the story right now and I can’t help but cry. This morning, a little after 9am, there was a horrible shooting in an Elementary School in Connecticut. As a Connecticut native, born and raised, this is too close to home. I am now living in Upstate NY, having moved here about 2 years ago, but I still have this overwhelming urge to go pick my kids up and hug them.
As of right now, there are 27 confirmed dead, 18 of which are children. The school Principal is also one of the confirmed dead.
One of the shooters is a man from New Jersey, between 18 and 20 years old. This man has been confirmed dead, however, I am hearing that there may be a second shooter and no further information about that. The death penalty in CT was repealed, so life in prison without parole is the worst the shooters can receive. That is not a hard enough sentence for this travesty and I can only hope that if there is another shooter, once they are put in prison that things will take care of themselves there.
I guess I will continue to update you as the day goes on, my feelings are all over the place right now, and I obviously don’t have all of the details yet. Last I heard, ALL on call CT State Troopers were called to the school, and a few minutes later, even off duty State Police were called in. There are around 1,200 State Police in CT, so you can see that the situation is dire.

According to CBS News, most of the death was within one kindergarten classroom. Police have gone to the home of the mother of the suspected shooter and found a body inside. They are unsure as to who that is. They believe the shooter may be a parent of one of the children in the school, but there is no concrete evidence of this yet. They have a name of the shooter, but haven’t released it yet.

One person who was inside said that the shooter went room to room, shooting children and teachers. They think that the numbers of 18 children and 9 adults killed may actually go up.
One source says that the gunman was about 20, wearing camo pants and knew someone in the school, since the school has a buzzer to let people in.
Teachers started hiding children inside cabinets when they started to hear gunshots.
People think that the loud speaker was turned on to warn teachers about the issue ahead of time.

They are saying that the public is no longer in danger, there was only one shooter and he is deceased.

24 year old Ryan Lanza was the shooter, they also believe he has murdered his father in New Jersey, then his mother in Connecticut, who was a school teacher. UPDATE: This facebook page has since been removed.
UPDATE: Ryan Lanza is the shooters brother, not the shooter. Adam Lanza had his brothers Id on him at the time, and reports came out saying Ryan was the shooter, he was not.

I am hearing that Ryan Adam Lanza’s best friend and girlfriend have gone missing. There were 2 bodies found inside of the shooters mothers house, but no confirmation as to who they are.

WFSB is reporting that the shooter may be Adam Lanza, Ryan Lanza’s brother, and that it may be Ryan who they have in custody. No concrete details yet, but this may be a case of mistaken identity as well.

Ok, now with many different conflicting stories, things are finally coming together. The shooter was Adam Lanza, Ryan’s brother. Ryan is in NJ being questioned by police, and their father is alive. Their mother, Nancy Lanza, was not killed at the school, but at her home, then Adam went to the school and began his spree there, but there have been no clues as to why and no notes found as of yet.

More details are coming forth this morning, and it was found out that the shooter (sorry, I am unable to say his name anymore, so he will just be known as “the shooter” from here on out) had forced his way into the school. Some are saying he shot out a window to get in, but in actuality, the police have not given the HOW of how he got in, just that he was not voluntarily let in. His mother, Nancy Lanza, was NOT a school teacher, and had no connection to the school.
